Dean Ford

My name is Dean Ford and I have made a personal commitment to run 52 races in 52 weeks.  During the 2013 year, I will run in 52 different races ranging in distance from 5k to a half marathon over the course of the year, averaging one race per week, starting with the first one on 01/01/2013.  I will update both my fundraising page and my facebook page each month to list the upcoming races I will be running in.  I welcome those who would like to join me in any or all of the races as well as suggestions for different races to run.

I ask you to support my commitment to the Wounded Warrior Project and help me reach my fundraising goal for 2013.  Help me give back to those who have served and sacrificed so that we all may enjoy the freedoms we have today.

Susie Avila has run 6 races, Courtney Mantel has run in 4 races, Teresa Sosa has run 3, Gary Ford and Tim Bentz have run 2 each..  Casey Pristou, Jodi Pristou,  Dave Swanson, Cindy Lopez, Katie Staam, Kelley Dawkins, Jason Carnihan, Michelle Mantel, and Stacy Jenson  have completed 1 race each.

Kelley Dawkins, Gary Ford, and Jason Carnihan ran the Kentucky Derby 1/2 Marathon with me on April, 27, 2013.  This was Jason's first race in 18 years. He ran this race in support of what we are doing.

I completed my 52nd race and Simon his 26th on November 24, 2013 at the Lincolnwood Turkey Trot 5k in Lincolnwood. IL. We were joined by Susie Avila and Juan Teran.  Now we need to decide if we should keep pushing until the end of the year or we reach our goal of $10,000.  We shall see.

Watershed Development Corporation is proud to sponsor Dean Ford in his effort to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. Dean has committed to run 52 races in 52 weeks during 2013. Dean Ford is the Chicagoland area Regional Manager for Watershed Development Corporation.

Watershed is showing its support for Dean’s effort by contributing $5,200; $100 for each race. Casey Pristou, Watershed President & CEO, commented, Dean Ford is dedicated and committed to the Wounded Warrior Project. His passion for the cause is compelling. Watershed jumped at the opportunity to be his first major sponsor. I encourage everyone to stand with Dean and the Wounded Warrior Project and donate what they can.”

“At the Aaron’s National Meeting I met several Iraq veterans that suffered severe combat wounds”, Dean recalled. “I was humbled as I learned first-hand what these brave young men and women had sacrificed for me. I knew then that I had to give back. Running these races and raising financial support is my opportunity to give back.” Dean, an encyclopedia of insightful and inspirational quotations, believes the following by famous runner Steve Prefontaine embodies his mindset as he approaches the beginning of his fund raising effort to give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.”
