My name is Alejandro Hernandez and as a war veteran and Purple Heart recipient known as Diablo-6 for my military call-sign in support of all veterans who have served Honorably for this great country. I will attempt to cycle my mountain bike the outskirts of the U.S. I will leave from San Benito TX and ride west to San Diego CA than north to Seattle WA than across to Bangor ME than down to Miami FL stopping on our capital Washington DC than head back around the gulf coast back to San Benito TX having cycled about 10,000 miles. This journey will take me approximately 3 and a half months depending on the weather and road conditions and I will do this alone with only the gear I will carry on my bike and attempt to camp out every night along the way. My start date is November 25th at about 6:30am and I will depart from San Benito TX City Hall. As many of you know, I’m passionate about giving back to our nation’s service members – the few who fight to protect the freedom of this great country. Often times many of these inspiring individuals come home with wounds you can and can’t see, like a missing limb, combat stress, or depression. Because they’ve risked everything for us, I’m committed to raising awareness and funds for these wounded service members and their caregivers.
I am proud to host an event benefiting an organization whose mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) has a big, audacious goal: to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history. I’m challenging myself to help WWP reach this vision, and I need your help.
WWP offers 20 holistic programs to wounded service members and their caregivers completely free of charge and 100% of the funds raised through the this event go directly to Wounded Warrior Project to help fuel these programs.
