"Other research has shown that sports participation enhances body self-image and functional capacity in amputees. On the basis of such findings, the medical community made it standard practice to encourage amputees to participate in athletics. Amputee soldiers in particular are now being pushed into sports, and they are willing takers. In the United States there is today a veritable pipeline from the battlefield to the racecourse. Organizations such as Ride 2 Recovery and the Wounded Warrior Project have transformed thousands of wounded American veterans into endurance athletes." - Matt Fitzgerald. How Bad Do You Want It?
I am raising money for Wounded Warriors because I want to give back to those that protect my freedoms and liberty's as an American Citizen. If the funds raised help just one Wounded Warrior come back from the battlefield and win their internal war of Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder (PTSD), or any other visible or invisible wound, by lifting their spirits and encouraging them to cross new finish lines, then I would consider that a success.
On June 12th, 2016 I'll be competing in my 8th ironman triathlon consisting of a 3.8km Swim, 180km Ride, and 42.2km Run. I'll be racing to motivate, inspire, encourage, and raise these funds for those who enable me and those around me to do what we do.
