On Saturday, September 22nd from 6 pm till 9 pm, we will be hosting our 7th annual Wounded Warrior Project Fund Raiser. To enter the Poker Hand Regatta, a donation of $50 or more needs to be made to the WWP via their website link (use the link on this page). Lake Arrowhead Residents can use their own boats.
For non boat owners, you can be placed on a skippered pontoon boat on a first call, first serve basis (limited to 2 spaces per family) for $25 each. Your name needs to be registered on the WWP website before you call to reserve a seat(s). Please RSVP by Sunday on September 18th by calling 770-479-6500. We have enough pontoon seats for 24 poker players.
All this registration money will go to the WWP and is not part of the poker pot money via their website. All WWP web donations are tax deductible; however, poker play and winnings are not. As proof of you being registered please bring your donation receipt from the WWP to the start of the event.
To play, each player registers by paying $10 to play in the regatta at the start of the event to the coordinator. At the end of the event, this cash pot will be split among the players (half to the highest hand and half to the lowest hand). Two extra cards can be purchased before the final play for $5/each from the event coordinator. Cards will be individually marked to prevent swapping of cards between players during the event. Players will pickup one card at the start and one card at the finish. The other three cards will be located on the lake.
A 15 minute tournament award and veteran recognition ceremony will start at 8:30 pm. Everyone is invited to honor our Lake Arrowhead war heroes at this time. In the last several years, Lake Arrowhead residents have raised more than $18,000 for the WWP at these events.
